Possibilities

Last week, I came home from work one day and just sat in my room thinking about my life. From the day I was born till now, there has always been a plan and/or path for me to follow. I'd attend church, go to school, graduate from high school, go off to college, graduate college, get an amazing job, meet the man of my dreams, get married, have kids, grow old, die. (ok dying isn't really a plan, but more of an inevitable action in life). Anyways, I've followed this plan somewhat closely considering my dad is a crazed-maniac who believes if it's not the "normal" way its the wrong way. (btw, I do not believe there is such a thing as "normal" and I hate the notion of anyone considering themselves that). I was happy throughout my childhood, minus a lot of bumps in the road with my family, but for the most part I was happy with the path I was following.  When I graduated from High School, I attended the University of Arizona, which was one of the best decisions of my life (granted my father basically gave me the cold shoulder till I decided to go off to college so I was very pressured). However, when I left, I really grew as a person. Because I didn't know anyone when I arrived, it gave me the opportunity to befriend a whole new group of people. It was difficult at first because I really didn't know what to expect nor did I know who these people truly were. But eventually I found my place and made an amazing group of friends that first year. And from there, that circle of friends grew and grew. College was the best experience of my life and the most memorable part of my "path." However, according to the plan once again, I graduated from college in 4 years (yep, 4 years since my dad refused for me to go another year). It was a very sad moment to move on from. It's only been around 7 months since I graduated and I still reminisce about those 4 years everyday. Anyways, in keeping with the plan, I moved back to California and started working immediately. Fortunately, I started interning at Film Independent (non-profit organization that hosts the LA Film Festival and Spirit Awards) where I learned a lot and met a group of wonderful people. It only went up from there when I was approached by a close family friend who proposed a job opportunity for his production company. Of course I interviewed for it and luckily was offered the job. I gladly accepted it and started the next week. And this is where my path lies currently. After 6 months working at this production company, I have had a world of new experiences. I love the people, atmosphere, and most importantly my job. It makes me laugh because I never thought those words, "I love my job" would ever come out of my mouth. From what I've seen and heard my whole life, I was awaiting a job that I would hate and would endure just for money and survival. However, the exact opposite has happened and I couldn't be happier with that. So as you can see, my "path" in life has been very linear.

But as I was sitting there, thinking about how monotonous my life has been, it made me very eager to do more. I've always wanted to travel, and see things that would make me appreciate more of what I have seen throughout the path I have followed. It also got me thinking about how much I have been doing things for my Dad and not myself. I'm angry because it took this long for me to see this but it was only till I realized that I want more out of life. Two places I am very eager to travel to is Europe (obviously) and India. Europe is an obvious place to travel to but there's so many places throughout Europe that I would love to see. And India, there's no words to describe how amazing and life-changing places there are to visit. I would love to do a mission project in India and experience the tremendously hard life I know some live. Although I did say I want to see places that would make me appreciate more of what I have, I truly want to help people and maybe give a little something back. With all that said, I'm trying to save up money so I can actually make these trips feasible. I would love to have the opportunity to travel and I can only keep striving to accomplish this goal.

Although I continue to follow the path I was given, I have to be grateful that I was even given a path. Without my parents (even if my Dad is a small minded person who looks at life in a particular way) I wouldn't have experienced anything I have thus far or been given the opportunities that have lead me to where I am right now. So thank you Mom and Dad. You guys have given me life and I couldn't be anymore thankful for you both.

To end, the possibilities in my life are endless and I will continue to find them as my path continues.
